PROF. ROBERT GATERU, PhD – VICE CHANCELLOR
Prof. Robert Gateru is the holder of a PhD in Microelectronic Engineering & Semiconductor Device Physics from the University of Surrey (UK),
Masters in Microelectronic Engineering & Semiconductor Device Physics from the University of Cambridge (UK) and BSc.(First Class Honours) in Physics from the University of Nairobi.
He is a seasoned academic, with over 10 years teaching and administration experience in various universities; he serves on a number of Boards, including Rural Electrification Authority, LIWA (Linking Industry With Academia) Kenya Trust and the Rift Valley Institute of Science & Technology. He is a Fellow of the Cambridge Commonwealth Society, a Senior Member of the Institute of Electrical & Electronic Engineer (IEEE), which is the world’s largest technical professional association. He is also a Founding Member of the Physics Society of Kenya where he serves in the Executive Committee. He has served in the Editorial Board of the International Journal of Professional Practice and Chaired many Conference Steering Committees.Selected awards that Prof. Gateru has received include the Distinguished Scholar Award by the ICT Association of Kenya, the Africa HR Leadership Award for Outstanding Contribution to Training & Development, and Kenya’s Top 40 Under 40 Men (2012) recognition by the BUSINESS Daily. He has won numerous grants, most notably a KES 46 Million grant from the World Bank through the Government of Kenya for establishment of the Kenya Centre of Excellence for BPO Training. He has published widely in international journals and presented in conferences across the world.
Prof. Gateru joined Riara University from Kenya Methodist University (KeMU) where he was the Principal of the Nairobi Campus, a position he has held from 2010. He has also worked as founding Dean and Associate Professor in KeMU’s Faculty of Computing and Informatics as well as Head of Department for the same institution. Prof. Gateru has previously served as the Founding Dean of the School of Science, Engineering and Technology at the Kabarak University where he also served as Head of Department for Computing, Mathematics and Physical Sciences as a Senior Lecturer.
DR. JOHN MURIITHI, PhD – DVC FINANCE & ADMINISTRATION
Dr Muriithi holds a Doctorate of Business Administration from the California School of Business and Organizational Studies in San Diego, California; an MBA from USIU, Nairobi and a B.Ed in Chemistry from the University of Nairobi. Dr. Muriithi is a proven leader in the corporate world and also has impressive University experience in both teaching and University administration. Since 2006 Dr. Muriithi has worked as an adjunct Lecturer in a number of universities including Strathmore Business School, JKUAT and USIU.
He joined Riara University from the Mater Hospital in Nairobi where he was the CEO from 2008- 2015. Dr. Muriithi has also previously worked as CEO of JKUAT Enterprises and as CEO of SC Johnson East Africa.
PROF. ABEL KINOTI, PhD – AG. DVC ACADEMIC AFFAIRS & DEAN, School of Business.
He is a member of the Academy of International Business (AIB)-Middle East North Africa Chapter, European Council for Small Business and Entrepreneurship (ECSB), Universities, Business and Research in Agricultural Innovation (UniBrain), African Incubation Network (AIN) a World Bank (INFODEV) Initiative and fellow of the Marketing Society of Kenya. He has over eighteen years of teaching, research and administrative experience from the Catholic University of Eastern Africa, Nairobi, Kenya where he served as a senior lecturer (marketing, entrepreneurship and strategic management), Head of Department, Coordinator, Associate Dean and the Director of a programme he founded and successfully directed. He has extensive research and training experience spanning over fifteen years as a Senior Consultant for local and international bodies. He has been actively involved in external examining, curriculum development and evaluation for various universities, industry university linkages and mentoring students.
Prof. Kinoti was Keynote Speaker, at the 8th African Resource Bank Conference and he has presented several research papers at local and international conferences. He has supervised many undergraduate and graduate dissertations. He is the author of a textbook on ‘Business Incubation and Business Development in Kenya’ and over five articles published in local and international peer reviewed journals. His main interests are in innovation and business incubation, marketing and the development and use of case studies, curriculum development and application of innovative pedagogy in teaching and life-long learning.
