First Annual Moot Court Competition

Announcing the First Annual Riara Moot Court Competition-July 16, 2013

The final round of the first edition of Annual Riara Moot Court competition will be held on Tuesday July 16, 2013 as from 1:30pm at Riara University Mbagathi Way campus.  The final round features the best two teams out of the nine that registered for the competition.

Themed around the constitutionality of death penalty law and practice in Kenya, this event offers a fantastic opportunity for law students at Riara to sharpen their legal research, writing and advocacy skills in an engaging and exciting fashion.

Mooting is part of Riara Law School’s innovative teaching methodology fondly known as ‘the bold pedagogy’ which is tailored to enable students to drive the learning process in a way that is most effective and beneficial to them.

This year’s moot court competition will be graced by the attendance of members of Kenya Women Judges Association (KWJA) who are celebrating 20 years since the inception of the organization.  The final round will be presided over by Lady Justice Roseline Nambuye (Court of Appeal), Lady Justice Mumbi Ngugi (High Court) and Ms. Nelly Kamunde (law faculty at Kenyatta University). It is a great honour to have these accomplished individuals mentoring and inspiring the young future lawyers at Riara.  KWJA and Riara Law School share a common commitment to raising the standards in legal education in Kenya.
